Advising

Advising is an important part of earning a university degree. NAU strongly recommends that you meet or talk with an advisor after you are admitted. Your advisor is your guide, ready to help you at each stage of your academic career including:
  • before you apply to review your transcripts and assess which classes may transfer;
  • before you enroll to determine which classes to take toward your degree and which classes require prerequisites;
  • before you graduate to determine if you have met all degree requirements.
You are encouraged to take advantage of the resources that your advisor can provide.

Use the search option to find an advisor in your area or contact your local NAU campus office for an advisor trained in your degree program. If you will earn your degree through the Online Campus, contact the Distance Learning Service center or the appropriate academic department on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus for advisement. To get the most out of your advising appointments keep a file of all papers that you receive from NAU and your advisor. Have these papers with you when you meet or talk with your advisor. Having a complete record will help you to effectively plan your education, with your advisor's assistance.
