Applying

Before you can enroll in NAU classes you will need to apply and be admitted to the university. This is true whether you plan to pursue a degree or take an occasional class. If you attended NAU at one time but have been away for a while you will need to fill out a new application. Your application form helps us assess your education needs and provide you with the most effective services.

You'll need to complete the undergraduate or graduate application form, depending on your academic career. Students in an undergraduate career are working toward a bachelor's degree or intend to enroll in classes below the 500-level. Graduate students have usually earned a bachelor's degree and desire a more directed education such as a master's or doctoral degree, a professional endorsement or certificate, or classes above the 500-level. Fill out an application online or submit one in person or by mail. In some cases an application fee is required.

Once your application has been processed you will receive a letter in the mail notifying you of your acceptance status. To ensure a speedy assessment of your application make sure you have sent copies of any required supporting documentation to the appropriate admissions office. For example, official transcripts of your previous coursework should be part of your application package if you are degree-seeking.

Advisors trained to help you get the most from your education goals, are available at local NAU campus offices and through the Distance Learning Service Center . As a new or transfer student pursuing an NAU degree, you'll want to take advantage of our free, professional advisement services.

You may need to submit a separate application to the college or department sponsoring your degree program. Check the NAU website to find information for your major or college.
