Payment Options

We want to make it easy for you to pay your tuition, fees and other charges, and get started in class, so we offer several different ways to make payment to the university. Choose whichever option or combination of options works best for you. Check the deadline calendar for payment due dates.

Credit Card and Electronic Check
Use a credit card or electronic check to pay online. For online credit card payments you can login to LOUIE. If you do not have a LOUIE account, you can pay with your credit card through the Student Account E-Business Payment Process. This method of payment will take two business days to verify and post. To pay with a credit card via the phone call (928) 523-1122, Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mountain time (Summer 7:30am to 4:30pm).  Sorry, we cannot accept E-check via the offline page or by phone.

Third Party Billing
If your tuition and fees will be paid by an outside agency or by your employer, you are responsible for supplying this information to the university by the payment deadlines. To handle this in person, take your billing statement to the Office of the Bursar, Gammage building 1, room 124, and make arrangements for payment. When you add or drop courses, submit your billing statement to the Office of the Bursar the same day. You can also process your third party paperwork through the Distance Learning Service Center. If for any reason your sponsor does not make payment, you will be held responsible for your bill.

Financial Aid
Financial Aid is a general term for funding assistance for college study. In some cases financial aid may be a loan that must be repaid; in other cases it may be a grant or scholarship that is awarded without future repayment requirements. If you have applied for and been awarded financial aid to cover all or a portion of your term expenses be sure to indicate this on your enrollment form.

Payment Plan
To help you budget for educational expenses, Northern Arizona University offers a convenient, low-cost way to spread fall and spring tuition charges over five interest-free installments. Plus, we now offer a three-month installment plan for summer. Visit the Bursar's web page for details, forms and deadlines. Or contact the bursar's office by phone 1-(800) 426-8315, ext 3122 or email.

Summer: NAU now offers a new easy three-month payment plan for summer tuition and fees. Costs for all five summer sessions can be combined into three equal payments. The payments are due at the first of June, July, and August. The nonrefundable enrollment fee is only $30.

Fall: The NAU payment plan will be offered from August 1 through December 1 for the fall term. If you wish to take advantage of the payment plan for second 8-week-session-classes only, you can enroll in the three-month plan, which will run from October through December. There is a $50 nonrefundable servicing fee each term.

Spring: The spring term payment plan runs from Janaury 1 through May 1. If you wish to take advantage of the payment plan for second 8-week-session-classes only, you can enroll in the three-month plan, which will run from March through May. There is a $50 nonrefundable servicing fee each term.

Holds or Service Indicators
If you have a past due charge it is called a negative service indicator or 'hold' in the NAU student information system (LOUIE). Use LOUIE to see whether you have a hold:SA SelfService>PersonalPortfolio>Tasks>Holds. Before you can enroll you will have to clear the holds on your account with the Office of the Bursar by calling (928) 523-3122 or 1-(800) 426-8315, ext. 3122.
